Question by Rumpleteaze: What is the best way to create permanent “blood stains” on a Zombie Costume?
Okay so I have made a Zombie costume for a play I am in However the problem is I need a permanent and cheap paint that will look like blood when I apply it to the material of the clothes I will be wearing.
The costume is made of mostly cotton material. I need to create blood splatter effect and blotchy bloody “wound” effects.
I also need a cheap product that I can find in a relatively common place. *I have looked for textile paint in my local craft stores and they do not carry them. Thats why I need your help.*
Lastly I need something that will permanently dye the costume. In the play I have to be VERY physical and I sweat pretty profusely so I need to be able to wash the costume and not have the fear of the “blood” coming out.
Please help. Thanks

Acrylic paint mixed to the right color will stick around and only weaken a little after multiple washings. Use cold water and Woolite.
Just mix up a dark red with a little brown. Thin it enough to splatter. Take it out in the yard and splatter the paint. Practice on something first to get the look down. Once painted allow it to dry. It doesn’t matter if these are blood stains. The look you want is gore and people won’t think “wait those are fresh blood splatters not stains” Fresh blood will have more impact. It isn’t a movie where people will scrutinize everything. Go for the gore.
